Premium Vape Juice Brands: What Makes Them Premium?

You probably have heard the term ‘premium’ referenced with your favorite vape juice brands. In truth, the term is loosely used in the industry by both minor and major vape juice companies. So how can consumers tell if their product truly is a premium vape juice brand or not? Today in the eJuiceDB blog we examine what truly makes a vape juice brand premium and discuss some of the indicators to look for to know if the brand you are about to buy is or isn’t premium.

What’s a Premium Vape Juice Brand?

If we are being realistic, there aren’t any official standards for what makes a vape juice brand premium. The word is often used liberally by many brands so it’s hard to tell which brands are actually premium.  However, we believe that there are certain characteristics that true premium vape juice brands have and that you should look for when selecting your premium vape juice brand.

Characteristics All Premium Brands Should Have

So what characteristics should a premium vape juice brand have? We believe premium vape juice brands should have the following characteristics:

  • Made in ISO and GMP facilities
  • Made from high quality and rare ingredients
  • A complex recipes
  • Heavily researched flavors
  • Comes with proof of authentication
  • Might come in smaller batches
  • Might use glass bottles

These characteristics tend to separate premium vape juice brands from the pack.

Made in ISO and GMP facilities

If the facilities and labs where the vape juice brand makes its vape juices are ISO certified, it’s likely the brand is premium status.  By going above and beyond and making their labs and facilities ISO certified, brands ensure their products are free from potential contaminants and will most likely have consistent flavors due to the strictly controlled temperature and the environment. But not all ISO-certified labs are built the same.

The International Organization of Standardization (ISO) is the entity that is charged with ISO accreditation. They are an independent, non-governmental global organization that sets standards for quality, safety, and efficiency of goods, products, and even services. Because their standards are so high, there are certain levels of standardization that vape juice companies can achieve that range from the highest standard, 1, to the lowest, 9.

While just getting ISO accreditation is a high feat, there are some vape juice companies

that achieve ISO 5 certification, which is extraordinary.  Keep in mind that when looking for a vape juice brand, it’s always better if their labs and cleanrooms are ISO certified. The lower the number of the certification, the better.

Another certification that premium vape juice brands might have for their laboratories and cleanrooms is a Good Manufacturing Practices certification (GMP), which is regulated and examined by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA).

Made From High Quality And Rare Ingredients

Most premium vape juice brands use USP-grade ingredients, which means they have passed the standards of the United States Pharmacopeia, a non-profit organization that sets the standards for many medicines, supplements, and food ingredients. The FDA, along with more than 100 countries, rely on these standards to ensure consumer safety.

That’s why nearly 100% of the time you will see premium vape juice brands use USP grade nicotine, vegetable glycerin, and propylene glycol, the three most important ingredients in e-liquids

Premium vape juice brands will also use rare natural or artificial ingredients. Not only does this add to the quality of the final flavor, but it’s what separates them from other brands. These custom made artificial or natural flavorings usually are only intended for the vape juice company and are manufactured in collaboration with the flavoring company. This ensures that the ingredients are only available to the vape juice brand and allows the brand to come up with new flavors that will never reach the general public or be duplicated by competitors.

Velvet Cloud (which is available in our store and which you can buy here) only uses natural ingredients that must be sourced from an all-natural flavoring company. This means that every vape juice uses only a vegetable glycerin base and has zero artificial flavorings, sweeteners, or suga, but still tastes incredible.

A Complex Recipe

Not only do the ingredients have to be high quality but they also must be made by qualified experts. Premium vape juice brands will often use complex recipes that require the expert knowledge of mixologists with backgrounds in culinary arts. They will also use special manufacturing practices that are artisanal in nature. For example, Ritual Craft Vapor (which you can buy here) steeps their vape juices in stainless steel barrels for an undisclosed period of time,  letting their complex recipes mix to perfection.

Each Flavor is Heavily Researched

Another thing that sets premium vape juice brands apart is that each flavor they create is heavily tested and researched. That means going to great lengths when it comes to testing. Often spending months at a time making sure the flavor is perfect for the public, and that ensures they have an all-day vape, you, the consumer won’t get tired of inhaling.

Comes With Proof of Authentication

Premium brands go above and beyond when it comes to protecting their consumers. Since the best premium brands are at risk of suffering from being forged, most premium brands will include proof of authentication on the bottle. Naked 100 (which you can buy here here) is one of the oldest and most respected premium brands on the market. They use QR codes to help customers verify their products' authenticity. They also come with a hard-to-replicate double-sided label. These efforts by premium brands ensure that only original products reach consumers and if a false bottle lands in their hands, they have a way of telling if it's fake or real.

Might Come in Smaller Batches

Another tell-tale sign of a premium brand is that it might come in small batches. Because of all the reasons mentioned above and all the lengths that premium vape juice manufacturers go through to make premium vape juices, they might make small amounts of a certain flavor or vape juice. Due to the high cost of making premium products,  they create fewer amounts to protect their overhead costs.

Might Use Glass Bottles

Another sign that you might be buying a premium vape juice brand is that it comes in a glass bottle. Glass bottles are more expensive than plastic bottles by a wide margin, but they protect better the vape juice from penetrating elements like light, heat, and air, that could potentially change the flavor. However, glass bottles aren’t mandatory and there are plenty of premium vape juice brands that offer excellent products in plastic bottles.

Although there are no official industry standards that vape juice brands must follow to be considered premium, there are some things you can look for. One of the most important indicators that a vape juice brand is premium is that it uses facilities, laboratories, and clean rooms that are ISO and GMP certified. Remember to look that the three main ingredients (vegetable glycerin, nicotine, and propylene glycol) are USP grade, and finally, in our eyes anyway, is that each flavor is extremely unique and hard to replicate, often combining numerous flavors to achieve a one of a kind experience no other brands can offer.
