What Is a Vape Pen?

A vape pen is a device that heats a substance and creates vapor. They are powered by a rechargeable battery, are relatively small, and are shaped like a pen. They were the first devices that were used for vaping nicotinebut now have been replaced by other devices.

Types of Vape Pens

There are two types of vape pens: disposable and rechargeable vape pens. Rechargeable vape pens refer to devices that can be charged multiple times and use a variety of atomizers and cartridges. Disposable vape pens refer to devices that come with internal batteries that can not be charged nor refilled. Whether they are rechargeable or disposable, we’ll explain the mechanics and science behind how vape pens work below.

How Nicotine Vape Pens Work

Nicotine vape pens consist of four different components that include:

  • A power source (battery)
  • Heating element or atomizer
  • A coil (the part that heats up)
  • And a wick (the cotton that contains the vape juice)

It’s important to know these parts since they all work together to create the vapor you inhale. It all starts with the battery, which powers up the whole operation. When the firing button is pressed or when you inhale (and the device is draw activated, which means it turns on when inhaling), the battery turns on, providing electricity to the atomizer. The atomizer, which houses the coil and the wick, then receives a current of electricity directly to the coil. The coil, which is essentially a metallic wire that has been wounded in circles, has nowhere to deliver this energy,  which ends up warming the coil to very high temperatures. With the coil giving off heat, the wick, which is almost always located inside the coil, ends up getting warmer too, and since it is saturated with vape juice, the vape juice begins to evaporate, creating the vapor that all vapers know and love.

How To Charge Vape Pens

Most vape pens these days come with a dedicated USB charger that includes a USB charging cable. All you have to do is read the instructions that come with the devices to know how long to charge it for. We recommend that you always supervise the device while its charging and never leave it unattended for long periods of time.

How To Refill Vape Pens

If your vape pen is disposable, you can not refill it. For nicotine vape pens, you need to throw away the whole device since there is no way to buy cartridges for nicotine disposables. With refillable nicotine vape pens, you can either buy pods that come prefilled with vape juice or buy bottles of vape juice and add them to the atomizer manually.

Conclusion
