Why Having a Clean Vape Coil and Clean Vape Tank Is Important

Cleaning your vape pen or box mod is essential because, sooner or later, dirt, gunk, and saliva will build up around the tank and mouthpiece. This can have an adverse effect on the lifespan of your device, the taste of the e-liquid, and, most importantly, your vape experience.

How to Clean a Vape Pen

If you own a vape pen, you must clean it to ensure it keeps working correctly for a long time. But the process is a little different for each type of vape pen.

How to Clean E-juice Vape Pens

The materials you'll need to clean your e-juice vape pen or pod system include:

        • Hot water
        • E-juice loader

If you own an e-juice vape pen or pod system, all you need to do, depending on the type of vape pen you own, is:

        1. Use an e-juice loader to fill the vape pen's tank or the refillable pods if you own a pod system with hot water. This is often the only thing you need to do to clean your e-juice vape pen.
        2. After filling it up with water, shake it. This will loosen the gunk or e-juice left in the device.
        3. Pour out the water, and you're good to go.

How to Clean Concentrate Vape Pens

Materials you'll need to clean your waxy concentrate vape pen are:

        • Alcohol
        • Q-tips

To clean a concentrate vape pen, you’ll need to:

        1. Unscrew the concentrate vape pen. You should be left with the top part, coils, and the part where you’ll find the battery. Your main goal when cleaning a concentrate vape pen should be to clean the threading as much as possible.
        2. Take a Q-tip, soak it in alcohol, and slowly sweep the gunk outside the part where the coil goes. Do not try to clean the inside since you may damage the coil.
        3. Clean the inside of the top part using your Q-tip. Once you get rid of all the gunk, your concentrate vape pen is clean.
        4. Remember to let the alcohol dry, and do not vape for at least a day.

How to Clean Herb Vape Pens

The materials you'll need to clean your e-juice vape pen include:

        • Dry herb small cleaning brush
        • Alcohol
        • Q-tips

To clean a herb vape pen, you’ll want to:

        1. Unscrew the top part of your vape pen to reveal the herb chamber. Take the small cleaning brush and start brushing along the sides.
        2. Tap the vape pen gently against a table so the remaining residue falls out. If your vape pen has a glass screen, take the glass screen out and drop it in alcohol.
        3. Be careful not to scrub the coil because this may damage the vape pen.
        4. Take a Q-tip and dip it in alcohol. With the vape pen upside down, run the Q-tip along the inside of the threading. Once you finish, place the glass screen back on.
        5. Let the alcohol dry, and do not vape for at least one day.

How to Clean a Box Mod

Materials you’ll need to clean your Box Mod include:

        • Hot water
        • A plastic bowl
        • Paper towels
        • Cotton swabs or Q-tips
        • Dish soap

Once you have all your materials ready, this is what you’ll need to do to clean your box mod:

        1. Disassemble your vape tank, making sure you know where each piece goes. Place all the parts in a plastic bowl full of warm water.
        2. Add a few drops of dish soap and gently stir the water using your hands. Leave the pieces in the bowl for about 10 minutes.
        3. Take a close look at each component. Is there a part that doesn’t seem clean? You may spot e-juice residue on some of the parts, in which case you should use a Q-tip to take off the gunk.
        4. After every piece has been examined and you’ve made sure they are free from any dirt or gunk, let them dry for about 20 minutes on the paper towels, making sure they are completely dry before putting the parts back together.

How to Clean a Vape Coil

You’ll need to replace your coils sooner or later. While other parts of your vape have a long lifespan, coils do not so much. While it’s impossible to tell how long vape coils last, one thing we know for sure is that cleaning them will extend their lifespan significantly.

How to clean a coil depends on the type of coil it is. Two types of easily cleanable coils come with tanks (and are replaceable), plus coils also go with rebuildable atomizers like RDAs. The way to clean both of them is entirely different.

        How to Clean Replaceable Coils

Cleaning a replaceable coil is pretty straightforward:

        1. Using the same materials you used to clean your tank, repeat the procedure, but this time let the replaceable coil rest in the mixture of water and soap overnight.
        2. When you wake up the next morning, let the coil head run under warm water. Examine the wick inside the coil head closely; does it look burnt? Or has it returned to a whitish color? If it has returned to a whitish color, then consider the coil clean.
        3. If the wick remains brown and burnt, you need to invest in a new coil.

How to Clean Your RBA Coils

Cleaning RBA coils takes a bit more work:

        1. Take a pair of tweezers and remove the wicking cotton from the coils.
        2. Fire up your device until the coils are red hot (this will burn off the gunk and dirt).
        3. Once the coils are scorching hot, power off your device and run them under cold water, making sure not to turn on the device by mistake while you do this.
        4. You might need to repeat steps 2 and 3 of this process to remove all of the excess gunk, but you’ll have an almost brand-new set of coils in the end.

        Conclusion

If you take care of your vape devices, they will take care of you. Washing them often will not only increase the lifespan of the parts and of the device itself, but it will also give you more flavorful inhales and thicker cloud production.

Remember that for pod systems and vape pens all you need to do is fill the refillable pod or vape tank with hot water and shake it. For box mods, vape tanks, and coils, the process is a bit more complex. All in all, you should now be ready to tackle vape maintenance on your vaping devices.
