Why Cleaning your Vape is Necessary

Cleaning your vape pen or box mod is essential because sooner or later, dirt, gunk, and saliva will build up around the tank and mouthpiece, and this can affect the lifespan of the device, the taste of the e-liquids, and most importantly, your health.

How To Clean Your Vape Pen

If you own a vape pen, you’ll need to clean it to keep it working correctly and extend its lifespan. This section will teach you how to clean the three types of vape pens that exist: e-juice vape pens, concentrates vape pens, and herb vape pens.

How To Clean an E juice Vape Pens

The materials you'll need to clean your e-juice vape pen include:

  • Hot water
  • E-juice loader

If you own an e-juice vape pen, all you need to do, depending on the type of vape pen you own, is use an e-juice loader to fill the vape pen's tank with hot water. This is often the only thing you need to do to clean your e-juice vape pen. After it is filled with water, shake it up. This will loosen the gunk or e-juice left in the device. Pour out the water, and you're good to go.

How To Clean Concentrate Vape Pens

Materials you'll need to clean your waxy concentrate pen:

  • Alcohol
  • Q-tips

First, unscrew the concentrate vape pen. You should be left with the top part and the coil's part and where the battery goes. The goal when cleaning a concentrate vape pen is to clean the threading as much as possible. Take a Q-tip, soak it in alcohol, and slowly sweep the gunk outside the part where the coil goes. Do not try to clean the inside since you might damage the coil. Then clean the inside of the top part. Once you get rid of all the gunk, your concentrate vape pen is clean.

How To Clean Herb Vape Pens

The materials you'll need to clean your e-juice vape pen include:

  • Dry herb small cleaning brush
  • Alcohol
  • Q-tips

First, begin by unscrewing the top part of your vape pen to reveal the herb chamber. Once the herb chamber is open, take the small cleaning brush and start brushing along the chamber's sides. If necessary, tap the vape pen against a table, so all the herbs fall out. If your vape pen has a glass screen, take the glass screen out and drop it in alcohol.

While cleaning with the brush, remember not to extend the scrub to the coil because if you do, you're liable to damage the vape pen. Next, take a Q-tip and dip it in alcohol. With the vape pen upside down, run the Q-tip along the inside of the threading. Once you finish, place the glass screen back on.

How To Clean Your Box Mod

Materials you’ll need to clean your Box Mod include:

  • Hot water
  • A plastic bowl
  • Paper towels
  • Cotton swabs or Q-tips
  • Dish soap

Once you have all your materials ready, the first thing you’ll want to do is disassemble your vape tank, making sure you know where each piece goes. Now that all the parts are separated, you can either run each of them under warm water or place them on a plastic bowl full of hot water. We recommend putting them inside the bowl. Once inside, make sure to add a few drops of dish soap and stir the water with your hands. Leave the pieces in the bowl for about 10 minutes.

Vaping device maintenance

Take a close look at each component. Is there a part that’s not clean? If there is a part with some e-juice residue, we recommend using a Q-tip to take off the gunk. After every piece has been examined and you’ve made sure they are free from any dirt or gunk, let them dry for about 20 minutes on the paper towels, making sure they are completely dry before putting the parts back together.

How To Clean Vape Coils

You should know that you need to replace your coils sooner or later. While other parts of your vape have a long lifespan, coils will eventually run their course. That said, cleaning them can extend their lifespan significantly and save you a few bucks. Two types of easily cleanable coils come with tanks (and are replaceable), plus coils also go with rebuildable atomizers like RDAs. The way to clean both of them is entirely different, but it's worth knowing if you have both kinds.

How To Clean Replaceable Coils

Cleaning a replaceable coil is pretty straightforward. Using the same materials you used to clean your tank, repeat the procedure, but this time let the replaceable coil stay in the mixture of water and soap overnight. When you wake up the next morning, let the coil head run under hot water. Examine the wick inside the coil head closely; does it look burnt? Or has it returned to a whitish color? If it has returned to a whitish color, then consider the coil clean. If it’s still brown and burnt, you need to invest in a new coil.

How To Clean RBA Coils

How to clean your RBA Coils

Cleaning RBA coils takes a bit more work. First, take a pair of tweezers and remove the wicking cotton from the coils. After removing the wicking materials, you’ll need to run the coils under cold water. Before running the coils under cold water, though, you’ll want to fire up your device until the coils are red hot (this will burn off the gunk and dirt). Once the coils are scorching hot, you’ll run them under the cold water making sure not to turn on the device once it’s under the water. You might need to do this twice to get rid of all the excess gunk, but you’ll have an almost brand new set of coils in the end.

Conclusion

If you take care of your vape devices, they will take care of you. Washing them often not only will increase the lifespan of the parts and of the device itself, but it will also give your more flavorful inhales and better cloud production.
