What is Tobacco Free Nicotine?

What is Tobacco Free Nicotine or TFN?

The vaping world is constantly evolving and creating new products that radically change the industry forever. For example, when pod systems and nicotine salts came out, they were the cutting edge and changed how vaping was viewed and consumed. We believe another product has arrived that is bound to change the vaping industry once again. That product is tobacco free nicotine (TFN). And we believe it’s the next standard nicotine to be used across the board for disposables, vape juices, and even nicotine salts.

What is tobacco free nicotine, and how does it work? This and more questions will be answered in today’s blog. So if you’re ready, let’s get started.

What is Tobacco Free Nicotine or TFN?

Tobacco-free nicotine, as the name states, is nicotine that has no tobacco. It’s also called synthetic nicotine because it is not organic and instead is made in a laboratory. Tobacco free nicotine or TFN is also purer and cleaner than tobacco that has been extracted from the tobacco plant. This is because there is no chance that the fertilizers and pesticides used in the tobacco plant end up in the nicotine. Overall, tobacco free nicotine provides a cleaner and purer nicotine experience.

What Are the Differences Between Tobacco Derived Nicotine vs. Tobacco Free Nicotine?

While tobacco derived nicotine (nicotine extracted from the tobacco plant) is made by using genetically modified tobacco plants that produce large amounts of nicotine which are later stripped of their nicotine by using solvents and chemicals, TFN is produced in a lab, making this the most important difference.

Although the exact process of making synthetic nicotine is still a kept secret by the companies who make it, it’s clear that it is more expensive than producing tobacco derived nicotine. This is because the ‘natural’ process of extracting nicotine is much cheaper and abundant than the fairly new synthetic process.

Another thing to understand is that as far as effects go, both natural and synthetic nicotine will produce the same effects on your body except that with synthetic nicotine there will be less impurities in the final product.

Why Haven’t I Heard of Tobacco Free Nicotine Before?

As we already stated tobacco free nicotine is considerably more expensive than the traditional and natural method of extracting nicotine. This is one reason why it hasn’t been adopted by the entire industry. However, this seems to be changing.

With the current legal climate threatening the future of vaping, tobacco free nicotine seems like the answer manufacturers are looking for. This is because the FDA currently has not included tobacco free nicotine products in the Tobacco Control Act, which defines tobacco products as “made or derived from tobacco that is intended for human consumption, including any component, part, or accessory of a tobacco product,” and since tobacco free products are not derived from tobacco, they fall out of the scope of the legislation. This means there is no need to submit PMTAs because, according to the language used in the legislation, tobacco-free nicotine products fall out of the FDA’s jurisdiction.

Companies that submitted PMTAs but were given marketing denial orders (meaning they can not market or sell their products in the United States) have already turned to create tobacco free nicotine products and this trend is only going to continue.

Conclusion

Tobacco free nicotine seems to be the answer to the PMTAs, and the future of vaping. And since the FDA has still not issued a statement that addresses tobacco-free products, more and more companies are jumping onto the TFN wagon in the hopes of continuing to serve the community of vapers who desperately need their products.
